Finally I ask that you comply with national laws, regional and municipal regulation for the current animal welfare.

The mayor's office sent a reply which I quote below.

Referring to protest disclosed mailing lists AgireOra February 8, promoted the association "The Refuge" which runs the kennel Casalecchio (Bologna) which called for greater collaboration with the Municipality for the management of the volunteers, the City had responded to all participants in the protest with a statement which - of course - say, in summary, to be more 'that was available and that the association instead of being uncooperative and having too many demands.

So here we disclose the official answer of the association, referring to any information and study the association itself, so those who have comments or want information, write to us (we can not respond on the issue, then it would be useless), but Alice, the volunteer who is working to disseminate this information: alice.salvini @ gmail.com

Reply of "The Refuge" declarations of the Mayor and the Councillor Beatrice Simone Gamberini Grasselli 11 February 2010


The aim of the association "The Refuge" is the welfare of animals.

Referring to recent statements by the Mayor and the Councillor Beatrice Simone Gamberini Grasselli in its 11 February 2010, thank you for the declaration of willingness to reach an agreement to renew the agreement and for the times and ways to find a solution for the new kennels. Recall in fact that the Convention is a contract between two parties on issues of common interest. We want to note that the association was never going to stop out by collaboration
seventeen. In confirmation of our interest we met with the administration on the following dates: 12/10 and 25/11 2009.

In convening the January 7, 2010, which was scheduled with the Assessor Grasselli as his request and confirmed by us on January 4, the Assessor did not present itself. On this occasion the topic on the agenda was our counter-renewal of the convention. We requested a meeting with the Mayor January 11, 2010 in which it was made aware of situations hitherto occurred. At that meeting, as written, was the need for a shared path to manage a transition phase until the new shelter. February 1 encounter with the Assessor and the Office of Animal Rights on one side and the other group was not welcomed any attempt to approach it was not accepted at any point in our counter-convention.

At this point, given the situation, Friday, February 5, 2010 we asked the secretary of the Mayor further contact for his mediation, before informing public opinion, without any feedback effect. The building has no sanitary authorization, lacking the structural requirements of security, involving the inability to achieve "small innovations" proposed to us the last convention. Recall that the sanitary authorization is the foundation of all existing legislation on animal welfare.

With reference to the project foster puppies, we can not accept what you requested for the following reasons: the National Law 281, 14/08/1991, Art. 2 paragraph 5, the regional law Article 27 of 07/04/2000. 17 Paragraph 4 of the martini and the Order of 16/07/2009, requiring municipalities to the introduction of a microchip to prevent stray dogs, which should be thwarted by accepting the proposals. Regarding the health aspect, our choice has always been paid to animal welfare and good behavior to the future owner, just to promote adoption awareness. Especially now that there dogs / pets of unknown origin with severe diseases, very difficult to treat and sometimes fatal results.

With regard to the identification of the outdoor area sgambato dogs, stated that the current structure is already equipped with an area of internal sgambato sgambato where all the dogs every day, so now there seems to the creation of an outdoor area that is more necessary to implement the work required by the ASL veterinary repeatedly on 20 / 5 12/10/2009 and aimed to obtain approval health. Regarding the management of the green was made one intervention for reducing errors still healthy tree instead of a crumbling, then removed. It is not clear why the Mayor declares that animal rights office has never received the list of actions necessary when the office itself has done more inspections. In recent years the Association has proposed having different areas to build the new shelter and different solutions (park kennel, kennel intermunicipal, etc..) Without ever arriving at any final design. The latest statements, we realize that there is not anything new. From the words of the Mayor and councilor has demonstrated that: it is not clear a path, there is one area, there is a project, there are no resources. Also we hope that an effective collaboration, can lead to concrete achievements in the interest of dog population and the community.
